2011 Checker is a sweet crazy little kitten that was turned into WakeCounty Animal Control with his brother as a stray. AnimalControl tested them and they came out FIV+. Lucky for themthey were at a good animal control center because insteadof immediately euthanizing him, which is pretty standard for FIV+cats in animal control centers, they contacted us. They nowtest FIV/FELV+They are both very friendly playful fellows.Sadly 9/15/2016 Domino passed away from leukemia.Checker is adjusting to life without his brother. He has manyother kitty friends. You will find him curled up sleeping with them often. You may watch him LIVE on his MeShare camera 24 hours a day. He is in House 2, Room 1.Sponsored by Annette - Thank you!Sponsored by Jennifer - Thank you!Sponsored by Vanessa - Thank you!Sponsored by Laura - Thank you!Sponsored by Sue - Thank you!Sponsored by Michael - Thank you!12/30/2018 This is very painful to write. We noticed that Checker was not acting likehis normal self and refusing to eat. We rushed hm to the vet to give hima full work up to see what was going on.While I was there with him, the vet and noticed his respiration and heartrates were decreasing. He was having serious breathing issues at this point.Xrays showed his chest was full of fluid. He had developed FIP and wassuffering at this point. The decision was made to let him go, FIP is 100%fatal. I held him in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge. We were blessed to have been able to give him 7 years of life that he wouldnot have gotten otherwise. He was a fun character who gave us hours ofentertainment with his big personality and his judgemental looks. He will be missed but he is now free to run and play with his brotherDomino again.
