Katerina
9/25/2013 Katerina is an approx 3 year old, super sweet, 3 legged, FELV+ cat. Her story is a sad long one. She was picked up by Animal Control (AC) in Tennessee caught in a humane trap. She was injured and had a wire tangled around her leg. AC took her to the vets office and asked that she be treated. They felt, because she is so sweet, that she had a family out there. Sadly, a week later, no family had turned up and AC turned ownership of her to the vets office. The vets office then tested her and found she was FELV+. Instead of euthanizing her, which is what most vets offices would do, they chose to treat her. Because her leg was badly damaged and broken they felt the best course was to remove her leg, that is why she only has 3 legs. They gave her her shots and spayed her. They tried finding a home for her, unsuccessfully. She sat in a cage for 6 months. She was never allowed out of the cage (I have that in writing) It had come down to the point that the vet said she had to go somewhere or they would euthanize her. She was blessed that the office manager of the clinic worked very hard to find some where for her to go (that is how she came to us) . And she found wonderful people to help transport her to us from Tennessee. She is very sweet and does well with the other cats. You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv/blindcatrescue on Monday's. 5/13/2014 Sadly Katerina died from lymphoma. We were so blessed to have her with us for 7 months. She will be remembered for her sweetness.
