OREO
2009 Oreo was rescued by a wonderful group in Pennsylvania when a woman had 63 cats seized by animal control for neglect. They contacted us to see if we could take the blind ones and we said ok. 2 wonderful volunteers put them in the car and drove 8 hours to bring them to us. Oreo's eyes were an absolute mess so we had them removed and got him a much needed dental. He is adjusting well from his ordeal. He is a wonderful loving little fellow and is always the first to be wrapped around your legs or in your lap. You can hear him purring from across the room.
You may watch him 24 hours a day live on his MeShare camera. He is in building 1, room 2. 1/2020 Update - Many years have passed and Oreo is just as sweet as he was 11 years ago when he arrived. He has developed diabetes but takes his insulin without a fuss. Sponsored by Charmaine - Thank you! Sponsored by Gloria - Thank you! Sponsored by Robert and Sonia - Thank you! 10/12/2020 RIP Oreo Oreo came into our lives 11 years ago as a young fellow who has been rescued from a bad hoarding situation. He was sick, blind, and in much need of a dental. He was also the sweetest cat who loved humans. My nickname for him was Oreo Uh Oh because he liked to roll around and be cute and looked like he was going to fall off the climbers or out of the beds. He was playful in his younger years, more like a little sloth in his later years. He loved to cuddle with all the other cats. You would often find him with 3 or more cats in the banana bed with him. His best friends were Felix and Camille. After they passed he would cuddle often with Greta and Pipsqueak. Oreo was diagnosed as diabetic 11 months ago. An ultrasound showed a large inoperable abdominal mass. We were really blessed to get almost another year with him. The last few days he had not been eating much, he was losing weight and we knew it was time to make a decision. Last night he was miserable, he had been vomiting, and he was not eating. His abdomen was huge, the mass had won. I was not going to allow him to continue to suffer another minute. He did not deserve that. I held him in my arms sobbing as he crossed over the rainbow bridge. I know Felix, and Camille will be happy to see him. I know all of his cat friends are going to miss him very much. The humans that loved him will miss him too. I will miss our nightly dances as we checked his blood sugar. He was such a sweet fellow who never complained about being stuck twice a day. He took a piece of my heart with him.
