Scamper
7/2022 Scamper came to us with his siblings, Alice & Trixie from a rescue in Florida. They are all leukemia positive. The cats had been trapped by a trapper and stayed in a foster home for a while who was not properly caring for them. A rescue some how got involved and took possession of the cats. Scamper has severe entropion in one eye. That is an abnormality of the eye in which the eyelid turns inwards. He will need surgery to correct it. He is shy but coming around. You will be able to watch them live when they go into their room on their live cat camera. They will be in room 1 HERE

9/27/2022 This is a sad letter to be writing. Scamper spiked a 105.8 fever last week and was immediately taken to the vet.  He spent several days in the hospital and we still weren't positive about what we were dealing with.  He did have an infection,  antibiotics were started, and his white count improved but he still had daily 105+ fevers.  On day 6 he developed fluid in his chest.  We weren't sure if it was from the fluids he was on or FIP.  We began treating him with a medication that says it is a successful treatment for FIP. (retromad)  We have medication to treat the fevers so we are able to push the fever down for a part of the day. He is eating and acts like he feels ok while the keto is on board.   Well,  It is now day 13 with fevers of 105+,  3 shots a day with Retomad and he is not getting better.  Last night he would not eat,  did vomit, and his abdomen is distended.  We are giving him a  shot that takes down his fever for 10-12 hours but then it is back up.   This morning he clearly has had enough.  He is suffering and I just can't keep doing that to him.   I took him to the vet and held him in my arms as he went over the rainbow bridge. He was a fun, sweet, playful fellow and this just breaks my heart.  We had high hopes for the medicine and I know we did not give it long enough but we could not bear to see suffer another day.  We are very grateful that we had the opportunity to know him.  We won't forget him.
