Holly
2011 Holly was dumped at the pound by her owners after 11 years! (That is what they wrote on the paperwork!!) A local rescue group was going to pull her from the shelter until she tested FELV+. We tested her negative twice using better tests than animal control used. She is not FELV+ This little girl is very lucky to have been dumped at a decent Animal Control Center that tries their hardest to find a safe place for the animals to go before having to euthanize them. She got sick about 3 days after she arrived. Her blood pressure went sky high and it caused her to lose her eyes. She has had one heck of a rough time of it. She understandably became very depressed & stopped eating. We have a feeding tube inserted. It took a few weeks but she started eating again and finally adjusted to her new reality. 2013 Holly (nicknamed Holly dolly) is a sweet little girl who has a very sweet purr. Sponsored by the David Family - Thank you! Sponsored by Faison & Baby - Thank you! Sponsored by Steven - Thank you! Sponsored by Tina - Thank you! Sponsored by Dawn - Thank you! Sponsored by Joanne - Thank you! Sponsored by Barbara - Thank you! 11/14/2017 This is a letter that I have known for months that the time was coming that I would have to write it. Sadly today is the day. 6 years ago little Holly Dolly came into my life. She was 11 years old. The only family she had ever known had dropped her off at the pound and walked away. When she arrived she was a very depressed kitty who had lost everything. The next day she had a hypertensive crisis and lost her sight. She had had enough and stopped eating. We had a feeding tube put in and began trying to give her a reason to live. I spent a lot of time sitting holding her, talking to her, singing to her. It took a few weeks for her to decide that this is her new reality. She finally started eating on her own. I think she has been happy here, she liked to lay in the sun, go out in the garden and roll in the grass. For the last 2 years, she has fought kidney disease. She was in and out of the hospital, etc. Her last blood work told us that the end of her time with us was coming soon. Her kidneys were barely functioning. In the last few days she had become very swollen, today her feet and legs were full of edema, she was in pain. It was time to make the final walk with her. She died peacefully in my arms. I promised her forever, I kept that promise. She was one of my favorites. They are all hard, but this one broke my heart. I will miss my little Holly Dolly and her kisses that she reserved for me.
