Buddy was found amongst a group of stray/feral cats living outside of a
Hardee’s in Pennsylvania. A woman had been feeding the cats when she
noticed Buddy showed up. Here is a section from her email to us:
“Recently, “Buddy” just appeared at the site looking scared and
disoriented-obviously someone had dropped him off. His behavior,
moving extremely slowly and carefully, alerted me to watch him carefully.
His eyes were and are both light blue and strange looking and while I was
there feeding, he bumped into his food bowl, though I suppose his whiskers,
hearing and sense of smell help him to orient himself. He lives in the
bushes and only moves 3 feet around a large gas tank near the feeding
area for the feral colony.”
She managed to catch him and found that he was in fact blind. He was also
friendly, just very scared and shy. She had him vetted and brought to BCR.
It took him a while to warm up to everyone but is now a friendly and
more outgoing cat. He loves to be held and is very sweet. He gets along
great with everyone and you can often find him snuggling with the other cats.
You may watch him LIVE 24 hours a day on his MeShare camera
He is in Room 7
5/19/2021 RIP This is a letter that I am shocked that I am having to write.
Buddy came to us 11 years ago as a stray in Pennsylvania. He was a super nice
kitty who loved to be loved on.
Tuesday we took him to the vet because he has lost a pound in TWO DAYS! We
were very concerned about what on earth was going on! He was not acting like
himself at all. The vets did blood, U/A, xrays, etc and they honestly were puzzled
too. This is a cat who has been healthy for 10 years and now his blood work is
alarming. He is in renal failure and we have no idea why. They, of course, started
fluids, antibiotics etc. trying to stabilize him but sadly in the end, he crashed and
passed away late yesterday afternoon. We are going to have a necropsy done to
see if it can give us an answer to what we were dealing with and why we lost him.
He loved to cuddle with the other cats. You would often find LT, & Izzy laying on top
of him. He was obsessed with playing his tunnel. He loved to run in it and play with
it. He was a very sweet kitty who loved everyone. We will miss him very much.
I am sorry Alana Sadly the necrosy did not give us a clear answer.
